Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Nairobi

 Our Mahanda Africa safaris representative will pick you from the airport and transfer you to your hotel in Nairobi where you will have a rest for the night.

Day 2: Transfer to Samburu  

Our guide will pick you up from your hotel at 6:30a.m and immediately depart for Samburu passing through the equator line to Samburu land. You will have a game drive on your way to the camp. There will be an afternoon game drive for 2 hours. Samburu Park has unique rare species of animals including the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s Zebra, Beisa Oryx and the Blue legged Somali Ostrich.

Day 3: Game drive in Samburu

Have two game drives on this day; pre-breakfast and afternoon game drives. Northern-Kenya have unique species including reticulated giraffe, beisa oryx, Grevy's zebra, and the long-necked gerenuk. Much of the reserve consists of desert landscape; dusty red plains broken by thorny scrub, featuring dramatic views of table-top Mt Ol Olokwe on the horizon. All meals are taken at the lodge.

Highlights

Day 4: Transfer to Sweetwater’s Game Sanctuary

After breakfast you will depart for Sweetwater’s arriving just in time for lunch. After lunch you will proceed for an afternoon game drive, observe chimps from the Jane Goodall Institute at the Sweetwater’s Chimpanzee Sanctuary and a visit to Rhino Sanctuary.

Day 5: Transfer to Lake Nakuru

After an early breakfast you will depart for Lake Nakuru which is 4 hours away. On arrival you will proceed to a game drive and later come back to the lodge for lunch. Have another game drive after lunch till 5:30p.m when you head to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Maasai Mara

After an early breakfast at the hotel you will depart for Maasai Mara. The road to Mara is a scenic one; passing through valleys, plantations and small towns on your way. You will arrive in Maasai Mara just in time for lunch. There will be an afternoon game drive till 6p.m.

Day 7 & 8: Game drive in Maasai Mara

You will spend these 2 days in full-day game drives in search of the big five and many other wildlife that inhabits these beautiful savannah plains. There will be a picnic lunch on the banks of Mara River or a good picnic site chosen by the guide. Alternatively, have morning and afternoon game drives.

Optional activities: Hot air balloon, cultural tour, sundowner, bush meals and guided nature walks

Highlights

Day 9: Transfer to Nairobi

You will have another early-morning game drive then return to the camp for breakfast. Thereafter, depart for Nairobi with a stop for lunch.
